Dr. Rajesh S. Thakkar

 

Dr. Rajesh S. Thakkar joined Tolani College of Arts & Science in 1990.  An M. Sc., M. Phil. and Ph. D. in Mathematics, Dr. Rajesh Thakkar has also been one of very energetic members in various curricular and co-curricular activities at the college. His Ph.D. came under the ‘Faculty Improvement Program’ (FIP) of UGC and he is the first Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. He played a vital role as a NAAC coordinator with the Principal Dr. Sushil Dharmani to get the college accredited in 2007 and to be the first accredited college in the Kachchh region. He was again the coordinator and college re-accredited by NAAC with a prestigious grade ‘A’ in 2014. He has been associated as a visiting faculty with the institutes like Indian Marytime University (Kandla Port Campus) and Tolani Institute of Management Studies. He has also been the district coordinator for BISAG for Mathematics. He has attended quite many international/national conferences/seminars including an international conference at Rome (Italy) and presented papers in them. He has various interests like cricket, table – tennis and music.

His significant achievements include :

  • The only Indian participant (amongst 225 participants all over the world) to attend the ‘International Conference on Group Theory’ at Rome, Italy in June 2003
  • Invited for an ‘Invited Research Talk’ by the Morehouse College, Atlanta, USA.
  • Awarded Fellowship under ‘Faculty Improvement Program’ by UGC.
  • Invited for a ‘Contributed Talk’ by the Technical University of Crete, Greece (Europe).
  • Invited as an ‘Invited Speaker’ in the 100th Indian Science Congress, the biggest event in Science in India, at Kolkata in 2013.
  • Awarded “Best Teacher Award” by Sindhi Youth Circle, Kachchh on 15th August, 2014.
  • Awarded for ‘Special service during Earthquake’ by the Gandhidham Collegiate Board, Adipur
  • The only representative of Kachchh District to be an Executive member of “Gujarat Ganit Mandal” from 2009 to 2012.
  • Participated in an Annual International Event of Bigbridge (US) “Songs of Love & Peace” in September 2012.
  • Has delivered 12 satellite video lectures through BISAG (Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications and Geo-informatics)
